Our Story

Gerry Cassell 1945 to 2014 Founder

Gerry Cassell learned about business and finance from his parents who set up a sweet making business in post-war Britain.  Although rationing was in force and there was no sugar, his dad came up with a solution – he would say to his customers “you bring me 1lb of your sugar ration and 6d and we’ll make you 1lb of sweets”.    As a teenager, Gerry would sell the sweets in the markets in Kent.

Gerry gave up his job as Personnel Manager and set up a company called New Appointments Group Ltd in the bedroom of the house that he shared with his wife, Pat and their three small children.
Gerry and Pat opened up their first branch in Park Road in Sittingbourne.
